Infrasound is defined as low-frequency sound below the range of human hearing. Unlike audible sound, these 0-20Hz acoustic waves can easily penetrate thick materials like brick and concrete. Even though infrasound can't be heard, infrasound's effects can be felt if it is "loud" enough, particularly above 100dBz.
Some symptoms of infrasound exposure are headaches, fatigue, increased anxiety, loss of balance, nausea, and impaired cardiac function.
Infrasound occurs naturally in some places, but infrasound exposure is usually caused by humans, eg: traffic, HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, large machinery, airplanes.
